Triton Recruitment CV Top Tips

Triton Recruitment CV Top Tips

Writing a CV can be perceived as a time consuming, laborious task. However, the value of a well-constructed CV can hugely improve your job search success.

A CV is often the first impression recruiters and companies have of you, so it is a good way to set a positive tone.

Here are our top tips on CV writing:

  • Contact Information

This may sound silly, but you would be surprised at how many people forget to include their telephone number and email address. Without these, how can a recruiter get in touch with you?! It is also hugely beneficial to include any professional social media accounts, such as LinkedIn, blogs, or websites you have.

  • Clear Formatting

Making sure your CV is clean and professional is very important. Using a consistent font, font size and bullet points make your CV more legible and easily read by the recruiter.

  • Tailoring a CV

Tailoring your CV ensures that you CV is customised for each job application. This may include adding emphasis to your most relevant work experience or any courses and certifications you have.

  • Professional Experience

The best way to list your professional experience is in chronological order, starting with your most recent experience first. Make sure to include the company you worked at, job title, length of service and a short summary of your key responsibilities.

  • Impact of your work

It is important to highlight your key achievements and the impact they have had within your CV. Wherever possible, try to quantify your achievements, e.g. increased sales by 10%.

  • Training / Certificates

If you have completed any additional certifications or training courses that are applicable to the job, make sure to include these on your CV as it helps to validate your experience and expertise.

  • Length

Try to aim for a CV that is around 2 A4 pages long. While this can be difficult, it is best to focus on the most relevant work experience and be clear and concise with your communication.

  • Proofread

Before you send your CV for a job application, make sure your proofread. Keep your eyes peeled for any grammatical or spelling error you may have missed earlier on in the process. If possible, ask someone else, even your recruiter to proofread it for a second opinion.
